Dinner
These sour meatballs, made from a blend of lamb and beef mince, are cooked to perfection in a hearty broth with potatoes and carrots. The meatballs are lightly coated with flour for a delicate texture and flavored with lemon juice for a tangy twist. Perfect for a comforting dinner, this dish is both satisfying and healthy.
Ingredients
- 400 grams of mixed lamb and beef mince
- 2 tablespoons of rice
- 1 small coffee cup of bulgur for meatballs
- 2 medium potatoes
- 3 small carrots
- Olive oil or vegetable oil, as preferred
- 1.5 liters of boiling water
- A pinch of black pepper
- Salt
- Some flour
- Half a lemon (use 1 lemon if you prefer it sour)
Instructions
- I partially boiled the rice and soaked the bulgur in hot water until softened.
- I cleaned and diced the potatoes and carrots.
- I added the soaked bulgur and softened rice to the minced meat, along with salt and black pepper, and mixed it well.
- I sprinkled flour on a tray. If desired, shape the mixture into walnut-sized or half-walnut-sized balls and place them on the floured tray.
- Continue the process until all the meat mixture is used up.
- Sprinkle more flour on top to coat the meatballs well.
- Put oil in a pot and turn on the heat.
- First, sauté the carrots for about 10 minutes, then add the potatoes and continue to sauté. Add a bit of salt and pour in the boiling water. Let it boil for 10 minutes so the flavors of the carrots and potatoes infuse into the water.
- Once the water starts boiling, add the meatballs one by one and let them simmer for half an hour.
- Add the lemon juice and let it simmer for another 10 minutes on low heat. Enjoy your meal!
