Appetizer
Golden, flaky puff pastries filled with a savory mixture of ground beef and onions, seasoned with red pepper flakes and black pepper. These vegetarian appetizers are crispy on the outside with a flavorful beef filling, perfect for a delicious, homemade treat.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons of yogurt
- 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 1 cup of water
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 3.5 to 4 cups of flour (enough to make a medium-firm dough)
For the Filling:
- 300 grams of ground beef
- 4 to 5 onions
- Red pepper flakes
- Black pepper
- Salt
Instructions
Prepare the Filling:
- Place the ground beef in a pan and cook until it releases its juices and then absorbs them back.
- Add the diced onions and sauté well.
- Add the spices, mix thoroughly, and set aside to cool.
Make the Dough:
- Add the ingredients in order to make a medium-firm dough.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 20 minutes.
Shape and Fill the Dough:
- Divide the dough into balls slightly larger than a walnut (I made 11 pieces).
- Roll out each ball on a floured surface to the size of a plate.
- Place the filling on one half of the dough, then fold it over to form a D shape.
- Trim the edges with a pastry cutter.
- I used the trimmed dough to make 2 more pieces.
Cook:
- Fry in hot oil until golden brown on both sides.
- Place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serve:
- Serve hot.
